# Manage assets

Create and organize shared asset collections, categories, and images for every playground.

Assets are the images your team reuses across playgrounds, like packshots, backgrounds, or textures. They're organized into Collections and Categories.

Assets, Collections, and Categories are shared across your whole organization. Any change you make here, like adding, renaming, or deleting, is visible to everyone, not just your team.

{% hint style="info" %}
To browse and use these assets in a playground, see [Library & Uploads](/features/library-and-uploads.md).
{% endhint %}

## Create a Collection

A Collection is the top-level folder for your assets. Use one Collection per brand, product line, or however your team likes to organize things.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Go to Assets

In account setup, select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Assets**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Select "+ New Collection"

At the bottom of the left column, select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**+ New Collection**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Name and create the Collection

Enter a name and confirm. Your new Collection appears in the left column list.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Choose a name everyone in your organization will understand, not just your own team.
{% endhint %}

***

## Add a Category

Categories sit inside a Collection and hold your assets. For example, one Category per product or per shot type.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Go to Assets

Select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Assets**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>, then select the Collection you want to add to from the left column.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Select "+ New Category"

In the right column, select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**+ New Category**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Name the Category and confirm

Enter a name.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
You need at least one Collection before you can create a Category.
{% endhint %}

## Upload assets

Once a Category exists, you can add assets to it from three places.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="From Assets" %}
{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open the Category

Go to <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Assets**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>, select the Collection, then hover over the Category card and select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**+**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Select images

Choose <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Upload asset**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> and select up to 10 images.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Name and confirm

Each asset shows its filename in an editable field. Change it to a clearer name if you like, then select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Add asset**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>. The assets are available across all playgrounds right away.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="From Visuals" %}
{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Select a visual

Go to <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Visuals**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> and select a visual using its <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**…**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> menu, or select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Add to asset**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose the Collection and Category

Select the destination Collection and Category, then confirm with <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Add to asset**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="From a playground" %}
{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Select the scene

In your scene, select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**…**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

Hover over the Collection, Category, or asset row and select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**…**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Confirm or cancel

Press Enter, or click outside the field, to confirm. Press Escape to cancel.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Renaming a Collection or Category updates it everywhere: on this page, in every playground's Library panel, and in search.
{% endhint %}

***

## Use assets in your playground

Any asset you add to a Category shows up in the Library tab of every playground. See [Library & Uploads](/features/library-and-uploads.md) to browse, search, and drag assets into a scene.

***

## Delete a Collection, Category, or asset

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open the row menu

Hover over the Collection, Category, or asset row and select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**…**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.

The item is removed for your whole organization.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.theseaai.com/accountsetup/manage-assets.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
