# Upscale

Increase image resolution while enhancing detail and texture. Upscale generates a higher-resolution version of your scene while preserving the original composition.

## How to use

#### Select "Upscale"

In the left task menu, select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Upscale**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>.

This opens the Upscale settings panel.

#### Add your image

You may add an image by:

* Selecting <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Upload an image**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> inside the scene
* Dragging and dropping an image from a folder on your computer
* Dragging and dropping an image from the Library panel at the bottom-left of the screen

#### Select an upscale type

In the Upscale settings panel, select the type that fits your image. Hover over any type to see its description.

| Type         | When to use                                      |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------ |
| **Standard** | All image types                                  |
| **Advanced** | Complex images with fine details, text, or logos |
| **Creative** | Add details beyond your input                    |
| **Face**     | Advanced face recovery and enhancement           |
| **Smooth**   | Product images without adding texture            |
| **Detailed** | Fine texture and details                         |

#### Set the scale

Select how much to enlarge the image. The scale defaults to x2. Available options depend on the type you selected.

Scales that create images of 8K or larger appear under **For print only**. The available scales depend on your image's resolution. You can download these images, but cannot edit them in the Playground.

#### Generate

Select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Generate**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd>. The upscaled image will appear in your Playground.

If you selected a scale under **For print only**, your image is available to download only. Select <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Continue from original layer**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> to return to the pre-upscale image.

## Examples

### Standard

Use <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Standard**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> for a clean, reliable upscale. It works well with most images and keeps the original look.

### Advanced

Use <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Advanced**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> for product images with sharp edges, small text, or logos. It will keep lines clear, even for large upscales.

### Creative

Use <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Creative**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> when you want the upscale to contribute, not just enlarge. It adds detail that feels consistent with the original composition while pushing the image further.

### Face

Use <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Face**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> for portraits and any image where faces are the subject. It recovers and enhances skin detail without over-sharpening or introducing artificial texture.

### Smooth

Use <kbd><mark style="color:$primary;">**Smooth**<mark style="color:$primary;"></kbd> for products, packaging, and graphic images where clean edges and flat colors matter. It sharpens without adding photographic texture or noise.

x1 does not resize your image. It applies quality enhancement without changing the dimensions.
